Music Ministry at St. Irenaeus

The Music Ministry at St. Irenaeus is alive and well! Our music director is Cliff Wilkins. Cliff cooridantes all the music ministries and plays the pianao and the organ for all masses, weddings, funerals and any other special liturgies at the parish.

He also directs and accompanies our outstanding parish choir!! Our Choir has been on concert tours in the U.S and abroad. Recent trips include Carnegie Hall in New York City, The Sydney Opera house in Australia  where we joined with singers from all around the country. Most recently, the choir sang and Cliff played the organ at mass at St.  Peter's Basilica at Vatican City in Rome, Italy. Another highlight of the trip was when they all sang a mass at the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi with the tomb of Saint Francis just a few short feet away. What an incredible spirtitual experience! These have been mountain top experiences for all of us but our real purpose is to sing at sunday mass. We are a diverse bunch of musical people with mostly average singing and note reading abilities. But when we sing at mass we really feel the Holy Spirit and surpass the sum of our parts and inspire the assembly and ourselves! And we take all comers!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

We have recently installed a pipe organ that had been lieft in desrepair at Our Lady Gate of Heaven Church in Detroit. It is a 34 rank Casavant pipe organ originally built in 1966, newly restored to its former glory and then some!

St. Irenaeus is also blessed with a 9' Steinway Concernt Grand Piano. We are truly grateful for the outstanding commitment the parish has made to the Music in Worship.  We also have several outstanding cantors that lead us in song. Our faithful regulars are Christine Lin and Michele Morrow they do a fantastic job! We are gratefil for their beautiful contributions to our music program. Additonally, Michele Morrow directs our wonderful Children's Choir and Youth Choir.

If you would like to join the parish choir please contact Cliff at (248) 762-1993. We meet every Wednesday evening at 7:30pm for rehearsal and we sing at the 10:00am mass every Sunday.
