RITE
OF CHRISTIAN INTIATION (RCIA) If
you have any questions about becoming a Catholic or desire to be baptized,
please feel free to call Pat Egan-Myers in the |
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) prepares both non-Catholics and those Catholics who have not received the sacraments for full participation in the life of the Church. Candidates are usually those who have not been baptized, those baptized in another Christian denomination or those who have been baptized in the Catholic Church but who have not been fully initiated. The R.C.I.A. is not a class or a program but a process of conversion. It takes as long as it takes. When participants are ready the sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil and initiation is completed.
The Adult sessions begin again every September and generally meet on Tuesday Evenings from 7-9 p.m.
The Children's sessions are formed based on need. Children over the age of seven in the situations described above begin the same process. We refer to their journey as the R.C.I.C. The sessions for the children are generally during the week on a day and time convenient to the group.
If you are interested in the R.C.I.A./R.C.I.C. call Patricia Egan-Myers (ext. 36) or Sue Hug (ext. 22) for more information.
