Office of Christian Service

By our baptism, we are called by Christ to serve our brothers and sisters, especially the poor.  We respond to the needs of others by offering the assistance they require such as food, clothing, and fellowship (charity) and by speaking up on their behalf against social conditions that may create poverty (justice). Many Christians find the call to serve easy to fulfill! It is natural that our love for the Lord and our gratitude for all the blessings he has given us produce delight in the chance to return His love by serving others. Parishioners of St. Irenaeus have a reputation for being very active, creative and generous in their outreach!

The Christian Service Office coordinates opportunities in which you can take action benefiting those in our parish and community who need our care and encouragement. Contact our Christian Service Coordinator, Cindy Monaghan, for more information!

Year End Summary

Jesus explains our final judgment – the Son of Man will separate people into two groups, with the ones who inherit the kingdom of God being in the group who responded with mercy and love:

I was hungry and you gave me food…

I was thirsty and you gave me drink…

I was a stranger and you welcomed me…

I was naked and you clothed me…

I was ill and you comforted me…

I was in prison and you visited me…

Matthew 25:31-46

Over the past year, our St. Irenaeus Christian Service initiatives have truly focused on fulfilling the Works of Mercy.  Click on the link below to see what we did last year… and consider how you’d like to get involved this year!
