Catechetics for Children
All children have the right to be cherished and nurtured in their faith. St. Irenaeus provides a place where children will know they are loved and treasured. It is our firm commitment to help them freely express their doubts, their hopes and dreams. Life without faith and its relationship to others is a lonely place. As Jean Vanier would say, “If you are not here, you will be missed.”
The Office of Catechetics is dedicated to helping parents and their children experience this reality. Our catechists and leaders want to share with you and your children their love for Jesus and the Catholic church. Come join us in celebrating the greatest story on earth.

Our motto, “ALL ARE WELCOME!” Teens come together to share their faith, develop and foster a relationship with Christ and their peers. Our youth minister and adult volunteers help our teens to trust, hope and rely and depend on God our Father in everything.
“We are on a journey to God: we have not reached our goal. We are in the process of becoming: we have not yet become what we are called to be.” (A.P. Purnell)
All of us are called to answer the question: Who are we and whom do we serve? Through reflection, study, prayer and service we are to change our behavior, our lifestyle, our attitudes and our relationships. By seeking and embracing conversion, we continue on the life-long journey.
We invite you to join us at any of our adult faith formation classes and events when you can. We know nothing is more intimate than a good conversation, friendship and the sharing of our stories. Come join us in hearing the stories of life and goodness found in the world around us and in the witness of the faithful who have kept the flame burning.
The ministers in the Office of Catechetics feel privileged and filled with joy to help prepare children, teens and adults for full and active participation in the Catholic Church! We include classroom learning and interactive experiences, study and discussion, spiritual retreats and service. Let us know how we can help you prepare for receiving Jesus more fully into your life.
We hope you will prayerfully consider teaching for us next year. We need teachers, aides, and substitutes. Please fill out the appropriate form and return it to Jean in the Office of Catechetics as soon as you can. If you have any questions, please call 248-651-2443. Thank you!
